The 2023 Nissan Leaf is bucking the trend in the electric vehicle segment. This specific realm is a relatively young segment, and many entries tend to be priced higher than some gasoline-powered vehicles. However, with a price tag of $36,190 MSRP (Plus destination fee), the Leaf SV Plus is out to change that and is keen to show that green vehicle technology and value can exist in the same sphere of influence.

Design Motif

To coincide with offering two new trims, the 2023 Leaf features an updated style that equally enhances its aerodynamics. For example, the headlights, the bumper molding, and the front grille display a black inner finish to help contrast it from the 2022 trim. The “Nissan” badge is also illuminated and in line with Nissan’s current simplified design style. To help it cut through the air, its aerodynamic parts have been reshaped for better flow.

Rounding out the modifications are a sleek set of multi-spoke wheels, which help give the Leaf a distinct presentation. Even though the Leaf electric vehicle’s aesthetic is not as flashy or as advanced as Tesla’s and others, the Leaf makes up for it by presenting electric vehicle buyers an alternative that blends in better with everyday traffic while not drawing too much attention to their green motoring ambitions.

The Motor

All Leaf trims are front-wheel drive, and the SV Plus arrives with a large 60-kilowatt-hour battery pack. According to sources, the battery size “adds a significant increase in range of 212 miles on a full charge. Of course, the muscle gets a boost as well, producing an impressive 214 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque.” In other words, this hatchback offers a perky ride when tasked with the occasional burst of spirited driving.

2023 Nissan Ariya Platinum+

In turn, the Nissan Ariya is undoubtedly an ideal automobile for first-time electric vehicle buyers as it provides a smooth ride compared to a conventional crossover SUV. With a relaxed suspension for more comfort over performance, the SUV offers much more control and stability during rough rides, even at a higher speed. The Ariya achieves a 50/50 weight balance with this design, making the car an exceptional electric vehicle to handle.

The cabin experience is also relatively relaxed, with little to no wind or road noise entering. This spreads to the light steering of the Ariya Platinum+ as well, making for more precise maneuvering. Moreover, the regenerative braking system of the Nissan Ariya can be influenced by the driving mode for maximum energy savings and an effortless driving experience.

Interior Design Language

The Nissan Ariya is equipped with comfortable and spacious interior settings. In fact, sources claim, “While the Leaf is all about practicality, convenience, and value, the Ariya presents emphasis in style, power, and technology.” The flat floor expands the cabin’s layout and offers plentiful space in the second row. The subtle welcome lights on the door panels and floor lend the interior a lavish ambiance. In addition, the Zero Gravity front seats reduce pressure on the body’s hot spots, making it even more advantageous when taking the Ariya for a long drive.

For a more accessible cockpit, a simple push of a button slides the entire console back and forth, opening up more space based on the owner’s driving comfort needs. Furthermore, the Nissan Ariya features heated and cooled front and rear outboard seats and special sound isolation. It also comes with a memory system that remembers an individual’s preferred seat, steering wheel, and side mirror positions and applies them with merely a quick touch.
