The Practical Appeal of Nissan’s 2024 Murano

The current generation of the Nissan Murano was presented for the 2015 model year, and Nissan plans to keep it around for the 2024 model year. The SUV, however, will not be receiving any major changes. Instead, the automaker has dropped the base S trim and raised the price of the vehicle to $39,255 MSRP (Plus destination fee) to accommodate the more advanced features that accompany the new entry-level trim, the SV.
The Exterior Aesthetic
With the 2024 Nissan Murano being mostly a carryover model, the vehicle will arrive with the same overall design as the current SUV on sale. For example, the midsize SUV will continue to boast an athletic design with angular headlights, a sweeping front fascia, and a large V-shaped grille. Along the side, the Murano features a prominent body line that connects the front fender to the tail lights, a blacked-out D-pillar for a floating roof design, and a sloping roofline. The rear end of the Murano has dual exhaust outlets, a small rear spoiler, and C-shaped tail lights.
The Interior Aesthetic
The current Murano interior design is expected to go unchanged for 2024. The V-shaped curve of the dashboard combines well with the SUV’s grille, lending the cabin a stylish design. The vehicle’s center console features a slew of physical dials and buttons for the HVAC and infotainment systems. Enthusiasts will likely appreciate the tactile simplicity of physical knobs for their functionality rather than the distracting refinement of a flat interface.
Despite its age, the Murano has an upscale cabin with premium materials and a good fit and finish. At first, it appears that the Murano is not on par with fellow rivals regarding cargo capacity, especially for a two-row midsize SUV. However, with its rear seat stowed, 26 pieces of luggage can fit inside the cabin. In addition, front seat occupants should easily find pleasant seating positions in the heavily cushioned chairs. Similarly, rear seat passengers are treated to equal convenience with a comfortably padded reclining bench seat.
Technological Comforts
When it comes to technological features, the 2024 Nissan Murano will come with the same features as the current model that is on sale. As such, the Murano comes equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an eight-inch touchscreen display unit, Bluetooth, six audio speakers, four USB ports, and satellite radio. Available features include navigation and an 11-speaker Bose audio system.
The Engine
The brand offers the current-generation Murano with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that delivers 260 horsepower and generates 240 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard while all-wheel drive is available. This powertrain will go unchanged for the 2024 model year. The smooth, supple ride is an asset, though. The steering is also advantageous, having just enough heft to keep things interesting.
It is a quiet highway cruiser as well. To clarify, the Murano is a large SUV, tipping the scales north of 4,000 pounds, which means its handling is pleasant rather than entertaining. Sources at Car and Driver emphasize the ease of the vehicle’s mobility, claiming, “The Murano is in its element on long-distance highway jaunts, where the powertrain fades into the background and delivers a peaceful journey.”
