The Nissan Rogue faces stiff competition from the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4, two SUV sales leaders of similar price points and sizes. The three are rivals in the most popular and challenging segment of vehicles to compete in. Nissan refreshed the Rogue for the 2024 model year. Modifications include an all-new take on the brand’s V-motion grille, new front and rear fascias, modernized inner tail lights, and added satin badges.
The Rogue SV offers a new 18-inch alloy wheel design, and Platinum trims come equipped with lower exterior and front fascia trim pieces, a new 19-inch wheel design, and gloss-black fenders. Indeed, a stronger shoulder line leaves the crossover looking larger than it is. The wraparound rear light clusters are exaggerated, while a contrasting black roof leaves the SUV feeling more confident. Of note, the vehicle has space for five adult passengers.
Propelling the Rogue
Under the hood, the 2024 Rogue is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). In this vehicle, the combination accelerates up to 201 horsepower and generates 225 pound-feet of torque. The Rogue excels at comfort whether on- or off-road. The vehicle has enough ground clearance to crawl around in the mud as the automatic all-wheel drive system sends power to the wheels with grip. While experts agree the automobile is not a performance vehicle, they describe the driving experience as pleasant: “Cruising at highway speeds was quiet and comfortable, with very little road or wind noise.”
One of the advantages of a smaller engine is smaller thirst when it comes to the pump. For example, in all-wheel drive form, the Rogue is EPA estimated at up to 28 miles per gallon in the city, 35 miles per gallon on the highway–or 34 miles per gallon for the Platinum trim–and 31 miles per gallon combined. The front-wheel drive variant promises even better figures, at 30 miles per gallon, 37 miles per gallon, and 33 miles per gallon respectively for city, highway, and combined driving.
Interior Features
The Rogue crossover’s cabin receives new textures and color options for 2024, on the seats, door panels, passenger-side dashboard, and center console. The top-tier Platinum trim boasts two-tone leather seats with diamond stitching and plenty of adjustment for the front and back of the bottom portion. The visors are also large and slide toward the rear to obscure any glare from the sun. The cabin is centered on a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen flanking a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. That said, the features are newly standard on the SL trim and above. It is worth noting that the Nissan Rogue comes outfitted with Google Built-In on SL and Platinum trims for a uniform, proven experience.
Google applications, such as Google Maps, Google Assistant, and others are included on Google Play. To clarify, by utilizing the Google Built-In system, all of a driver’s subscriptions are installed without requiring a phone. However, keep in mind that even though this is a Google-based system, it allows phone integration with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. The automatic response of the sleek interface provides an exceptionally user-friendly experience, as touted by experts: “Using the Google Assistant voice system, I easily found points of interest, set a destination, made a hands-free call, and played music from various sources.”
