Nissan Kicks is one of the best entry-level crossovers from the manufacturer that puts close emphasis on the safety of its occupants. It is well known for bringing security and pragmatism at a reasonable price. Recently, the next generation of cars got leaked wearing a disguise. However, regardless of the camouflage, spy photographs reveal various notable alterations in the model.

Nissan, one of the prominent car manufacturers from Japan, is renowned for its affordable commuter cars that offer the best value for money. Of late, the automaker has been spied testing its introductory-level crossover known as the Nissan Kicks for upcoming trims, and as mentioned, some noticeable changes have been witnessed all around.

Captured by Spy Photographers

Even though the vehicle was heavily wrapped under a camouflaged sheet, the all-new Nissan Kicks was spotted with a slightly larger footprint compared to its predecessors. The front of the car appears to be more upright as opposed to the relatively awkward nose of the current generation.

It also has a more forward-positioned headlight that sits on top of the fully redesigned front fascia. A close inspection of the side further reveals that the car has a sleek design language that gives this compact SUV a sporty appearance. There is a bulge above the rear fender that makes the car wider, and the redesigned side mirrors add to the overall appeal.

The rear fascia of the SUV is also redesigned to complement the modifications. For example, a brawny liftgate, a rear spoiler, and revised tail lamps ensure it looks contemporary and fresh from every angle. The interior of the SUV is not visible in any of the spy shots. Nonetheless, there is a strong possibility that there will be some significant changes alongside the exterior.

The changes are expected in terms of a new center console and dashboard, along with a new instrument cluster and updated infotainment software. As with the previous trim, Nissan will likely incorporate the safety features with standard creature comforts like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Under the Hood Rumors

The next generation of Kicks appears larger than the current one, which suggests that the company integrated a different platform for the subcompact SUV. Nonetheless, readers must take this with a pinch of salt as there is no official information about the chassis of the car. Similarly, there is only speculation regarding the powertrain options that Nissan will feature in the updated Kicks. Currently, the Nissan Kicks is powered by a 1.6-liter inline-four engine that accelerates up to 122 horsepower and generates 114 pound-feet of torque. Moreover, it is paired with an Xtronic continuously variable transmission with a front-wheel drive option.

That said, the Japanese automaker also provides the Kicks with a hybrid powertrain in areas of the world other than North America. It is possible that, with the updated Kicks, Nissan might decide to introduce the hybrid engine for the United States market. This time, the manufacturer might select to add all-wheel drive as an option for the upcoming automobile.

Launch Date is in Limbo

As far as the second-generation trim is concerned, Nissan recently decided to delay its start of production until June 2024. The exact date of the debut is, therefore, unknown. Additionally, since the crossover has not been revealed via official channels, prices can only be speculated upon until there is confirmation from Nissan. However, due to the considerable updates in terms of size, design, and technology, it can be surmised that the prices will be upgraded in equal measure.
