So far this year (2023), over 211,000 units of Nissan’s Rogue have left dealer lots in the United States. That does not mean the automaker or any of its rivals can take a breather, though, so the 2024 Rogue gets some modifications to keep it up-to-date against its most competitive contenders. Even though this is fundamentally the same vehicle customers have been able to purchase since the 2021 model year, they must consider this latest model year if they are looking for updated styling and some technological quality-of-life upgrades. Indeed, Nissan has introduced a mid-cycle refresh for its Rogue compact crossover. The popular crossover receives new fascia designs and tweaks to its tail lights that are typical of such updates, but some significant changes have taken place inside.

The Aesthetics

On the exterior, the most noteworthy change the 2024 compact crossover undergoes involves its front and rear fascias. The V-Motion grille loses its massive surround, so the grille area is noticeably larger. There is also a more distinctive line that cuts from the headline toward the black lower fascia, so it has a tad more presence than past model years. Around back, Nissan gave the updated Rogue new inner tail lights and altered the lower portion a bit. To the casual observer, though, it is only slightly different than it was before.

Updates to the Infotainment System

Base iterations of the 2024 Nissan Rogue, including the S and SV, retain the 8.0-inch infotainment display with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. However, the SL and Platinum trims receive a new 12.3-inch infotainment unit to replace the outgoing 9.0-inch display, with Google Apps built-in. That is a change consumers are beginning to see with various automakers.

To clarify, the built-in feature natively incorporates applications folks commonly utilize, such as Google Assistant and Maps to the operating system, without having to hook in a smartphone for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connectivity. That said, the connection can be established wirelessly on these upper level trims. If the infotainment update is a sign of the times, so is the transition to USB-C across the board. On the technological front, all 2024 Nissan Rogue SUVs outfitted with NissanConnect now come equipped with three years of service, instead of the former and relatively short six-month trial period.

Beneath the Hood

According to sources, “The 201-horsepower, 225 lb-ft of torque turbocharged, variable compression 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine is also sticking around.” Front-wheel drive remains the default, while drivers can get all-wheel drive as an option across the lineup. All Rogue automobiles receive Nissan Safety Shield 360 as standard fare, which includes rear cross traffic alert, blind spot warning, rear automatic braking, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and high beam assist. To that end, SV and higher trims get the brand’s ProPilot Assist semi-autonomous system with steering assist and adaptive cruise control.

The Cost of the 2024 Nissan Rogue

Prospective 2024 Rogue customers can expect the trims to be available by early 2024. As of this writing, pricing is not yet available but customers should not expect it to shift too much from the outgoing vehicle’s starting price. Odds are the introductory-level S will drift closer to $30,000 MSRP (Plus destination fee), while the top-tier trims might experience a larger hike of up to $40,000 MSRP (Plus destination fee) due to year-over-year price jumps and the all-new infotainment display. It is also worth noting that Nissan, unlike numerous other manufacturers, continues to maintain a base trim on the market, which is a particularly significant move as the Rogue is consistently one of the better-value options in its segment.
