Haunted Highways: The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder’s Tale

The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder is available in five different trim levels with a single engine, one transmission, and either front- or all-wheel drive to select from. Although many competitors concentrate on capability, sophistication, or off-road prowess, the Pathfinder targets the middle of the market instead of focusing on a particular specialty.
Indeed, the three-row SUV sector is where families search for an automobile that most suitably meets their needs. That’s the Nissan Pathfinder’s task, and it was designed for practicality, not luxury.
The Pathfinder’s Performance and Fuel Efficiency
Every 2024 Nissan Pathfinder comes equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission. Most trims generate 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque, but the Rock Creek Edition delivers 295 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque.
Of note, if a non-car person drove a 2021 Pathfinder and a 2024 model, they could be forgiven for thinking it possessed the same transmission. That’s how smoothly the new automatic functions. The engine provides satisfactory acceleration and is generally refined, but as one of the few remaining naturally aspirated V-6 powertrains in the class, it has a more rumbling exhaust note than some rivals.
The SUV also makes seamless highway passes, and its towing capacity is equally remarkable. At 6,000 pounds with all-wheel drive, the Nissan Pathfinder is significantly better than the segment’s average of 5,000 pounds. Notably, the standard tow hitch on all-wheel-drive trims is useful for gear solutions and hitch-mounted bicycle racks.
Meanwhile, it’s curious that all-wheel-drive versions of the S, SV, and SL trims produce the best fuel economy with 21 miles per gallon (mpg) city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined; the front-wheel-drive variants earn the same city and combined ratings but 26 mpg highway.
Is the Nissan Pathfinder a Comfortable Ride?
The cabin is the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder’s crowning aspect. It provides seating for up to eight people across three rows. In terms of cargo room, the vehicle boasts 16.6 cubic feet of capacity behind the third row, 45 cubic feet behind the second row, and 80.5 cubic feet overall. This is competitive for the segment; so much so that occupants can comfortably sleep in the automobile.
“When I say the all-new Nissan Pathfinder was our home base for this trip, I mean that in every possible context: we made two single-day 700-kilometer runs in it, used it for local day trips, and even slept in it in the evenings while we were camping.”

The cabin’s thoughtful execution will likely age well through the years. Its functional layout is a nice touch, with all of the essential controls within reach of the driver. Customers will likely appreciate the addition of tangible switches, buttons, and touch controls.
